How to Become a Seller

Selling on Artifaq

Artifaq is an online marketplace for buying and selling Artifacts. We define an Artifact as any item over 50 years old that has some historical relevance.
 

What you can sell

  • Legally obtained artifacts that are over 50 years old
  • Reproductions of artifacts as long as they are clearly marked as Reproductions
  • Examples of the above:
    • Handmade items from any culture including tools, pottery, clothing, ceremonial items, paintings, jewelry, etc.
    • Documents over 50 years old such as newspapers, books, newsletters, handwritten letters, and any document having a historical relevance.
    • Memorabilia such as sports cards, posters, signed sports equipment, post cards, along with machine made memorabilia that is over 50 years old.
    • Reproductions of the above examples as long as they are sold as such

How it works

  1. List your artifacts - you list your items on Artifaq for a fee (free until March 31, 2010)
  2. Get paid - Buyers will find your artifact and pay you directly
  3. Ship your item - You ship your artifact to the buyer
  4. Artifaq will send you an email invoice for the sales fee (free until March 31, 2010)

It's Easy!

To get started you'll first need to register for an Artifaq account. Registration is free but you will need a valid PayPay account to sell your artifacts on Artifaq. If you do not have a Premier PayPal Account please click on the link above. The Premier Account allows you to both buy and sell. The Buyers deal directly with you the Seller through this PayPal account. Then, you list your artifacts. It costs 80 cents to list an item for 6 months. When your artifact sells, you'll pay a 4% transaction fee. You will pay your Artifaq bill with a click from the emailed invoice that we will send to you.

After your initial account registration, you will be sent an email to your authorized email address requesting confirmation of your desire to create an account. After signing in please go to "My Account" on the Navigation menu and then click the "Seller Profile" tab. This page will allow you to put in your store profile information, your store policies and your PayPal information for selling on the Artifaq site. Your Username will be your store name and will be displayed at the top of your customized page. As you upload photos and descriptions of your items that you are selling they will automatically be added to your store. We will periodically feature different sellers and promote them to the front page for a period of time.
